Volunteer with us!

We are thankful for each and every one of our volunteers, who dedicate their time and energy to the Sussex Horse Rescue Trust and make a huge contribution to the work we do. Being a volunteer can be very rewarding, providing you with considerable experience, a chance to develop new skills and build confidence within your vocation. Most of all it’s great fun, offering the opportunity to meet like-minded people who share an enthusiasm for horses!

There is bound to be a suitable role for you – we have a number of different roles available, from helping out in the yard, to getting involved in our marketing, fundraising and even manning stalls at local fetes and events. When you start, we will provide you with an induction programme, and any training you may need to carry out the role will be taught ‘on the job’.

We welcome help from anybody willing – our only restriction is that those aged under 15 cannot work in the yard due to insurance reasons.  15-18 year olds require permission from their parent/guardian, but if you are too young to work at the sanctuary you could have some fun and make a worthwhile contribution by fundraising for us instead!

There are many ways you can help us make a difference, no matter how much time you have available or the level of commitment you can afford to give. If you are passionate about horses and think you could help by donating your time and skills, we’d love to hear from you!

We are also looking for somebody who could repair rugs for us – if you have the time, the skill and the sewing machine, we’d be delighted to hear from you!

**Please note – our new online system has proven so popular that we have currently reached our capacity for volunteers for yard duties, wow! If you are interested in volunteering for yard duties we would love to hear from you at the beginning of September 2019 when the high season for work experience students has ended.
