The generosity of our supporters enables us to continue our work with the horses, ponies and donkeys in our care, and improving the sanctuary. We have been lucky enough to benefit from some legacies recently which have funded complete projects! Small donations as well as larger sums would be welcome to help raise much-needed funds for our current projects which include:

Project New Barn

Proposed area for new winter barn

£100,000 for a new barn, to keep the horses in during winter. We have received quotes and drawings for this project but are unable to take it any further without funding in place. This new barn is desperately needed to relieve the pressure of having such a large herd of bigger horses in our other barn and yard over the winter. It will also free up that smaller barn to enable us to store more hay and straw for the winter months which will mean we can save precious funds by buying earlier in the year when prices are lower.

Project New Café

Proposed area for new cafe - ice cream parlour

£10,000 for a new café area – we are keen to redevelop and revamp the area between the car park and the main entrance to provide better facilities for our visitors. Part of this project would be to provide a smaller outside café area serving teas, coffees, and ice creams with a patio and picnic benches in a lovely quiet, picturesque part of the farm.

Project Play Area

Proposed area for children's playground

£8,000 towards a new children’s play area. We hope to receive a grant to help part-fund this project. This is the other half of the café project and the proposed area sits opposite where the café would be, enabling families to come down and relax; parents can grab a refreshment and still keep an eye on the children whilst they enjoy the play area opposite. Again we have quotes and drawings for this area but we simply do not have the spare capital to enable us to carry out these improvements.

Project Stable Block

Stable block in need of renovating

£8,000 to renovate our smaller stable block, which requires repairs to fix a leaky roof, new stable doors and frames, re-rendering on the front wall, and re-painting inside and out to provide a bright, clean, welcoming environment for the horses.

Project Fence

Yard fencing in need of replacing

UPDATE – Watch this space for photos of our beautiful new fencing kindly donated by a wonderful supporter in 2019!

£6,000 to renew the fencing around the stable yards. Despite annual re-staining by volunteer groups, the wooden fencing surrounding each of our stable yards is looking very tired, and is no longer sturdy. It has been up for almost twenty years and many of the posts are now rotten at the base. This would be renewed in maintenance free key clamp metal fencing, as our new donkey enclosure has now been done.
