Volunteer with Sussex Horse Rescue Trust's Equine Santuary
& help to improve the lives of the equines in our care
Your help matters
Our Volunteers make a huge contribution to the work we do to help prevent cruelty and alleviate suffering to equines. We are looking for volunteers who want to be part of something they feel passionately about and have a number of volunteering roles - there is bound to be a suitable opportunity for you.
All volunteers, whatever their role, are valued and are the lifeblood of our organisation. Volunteering can provide you with experience and a new found confidence in various areas of work and provides an opportunity to meet like-minded people who share your enthusiasm for horse welfare.
What can you gain from Volunteering?
• Receive great satisfaction for the contribution you make
• Develop new or existing skills and knowledge
• Have the opportunity to try something new
• Gain a sense of achievement
• Improve fitness and develop your personal skills and confidence
As a clerical volunteer, you can gain important transferable skills in fundraising, campaigning, team working, administration and more.
Who can volunteer?
Anyone who shares our passion for equines and has the dedication to help improve the lives of our unwanted and abandoned equines can apply to be a volunteer.
Unfortunately, there are some limits on our yard opportunities, mainly down to insurance restrictions. We cannot take anyone under 15 years of age. Young people aged 15 – 18 need to have their parent/guardian’s permission. But if you are too young to work at the Sanctuary you could have some fun and make a worthwhile contribution by fundraising for us instead.
How do you volunteer?
Before you join us as a volunteer, you will be asked to complete a volunteer application form. When you start as a volunteer you will be provided with an induction programme and any training you may need to carry out the role.
How much time will I have to give?
There are many ways you can help us make a difference, no matter how much time you have available or the level of commitment you can afford to give.
Helping at fundraising events – we attend various fetes, boot sales, etc. and can always do with assistance manning the stalls.
Marketing – promoting our work through local media
Fundraising – coordinating fundraising events and coming up with new ideas
Publicity – raising awareness of who we are and what we do
If you are interested in helping us with any of these roles complete the form below, stating the vacancy you are interested in, your experience, why you would like to work with us and what you think you can contribute.
